A Battlefield 2 & 2142 Site

Battlefield 2 (abbreviated to BF2) is a computer game where players fight in a near-future battlefield using state of the art firearms and vehicles. BF2 represents a first-person shooter with some strategy elements.

BF2 was developed by Digital Illusions CE (DICE) with a custom engine for gameplay, physics, and graphics. BF2 is published by Electronic Arts as the third game of the Battlefield series, released in late June of 2005.

BF2 includes a single-player mode with three difficulty levels and a multi-player mode via the Internet or a LAN. Both player modes use the same maps and use Battlefield's conquest game mode. Single-player mode allows 15 computer controlled players, while Internet mode allows up to 64 players.

The game received an average score of 90% from reviewers and topped the PC game sales charts from June to August 2005. Battlefield 2 is often compared with the popular Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942. Both games take place in similar eras and, after the acquisition of Desert Combat developer Trauma Studios by Digital Illusions CE, developers that worked on Desert Combat went to work on Battlefield 2.

A console branded version also exists (for Xbox, Xbox 360 and PS2), named Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, although the game differs quite considerably in execution, content, and gameplay from the PC version.

Battlefield 2142 (abbreviated BF2142) is a first person shooter PC game using a modified engine of Battlefield 2 set in the 22nd Centry, during a new ice age. Battlefield 2142 was released on October 18, 2006 in the US and October 20, 2006 in the EU. Currently, according to EA, there have been over 1 million rounds played since its release.

By early 2138, the world's six factions were heavily fortified, ready to battle over the world's remaining land and resources. Expecting an invasion by the Pan Asian Coalition (PAC) into the agriculture-rich plains of Nothern Africa, the Europian Union concentrated its resources along the Mediterranean, ready to assist the Union of Africian States. A foray by two PAC battalions into Egypt seemed to confirm their suspicions, but the attacks were merely decoys, meant to distract the world from the PAC's primary objective, to destroy the military might of the EU's premiere units still located in Europe.

Following the defeat of the EU army in Europe, the stage was set for the Pan Asian Coalition military to force its way into the EU-occupied African mainland. In February 2142, the EU formed 'The Mediterranean Wall', a line of defenses along the North African coast from Morocco to Egypt. Meanwhile, the Pan Asian Coalition was drawing up a series of deception plans under the code names Kupalo, Dazhbog and Perun. These exercises were designed to preoccupy and divide the EU forces in preparation for the PAC's primary mission, Operation Motherland, a comprehensive, multi-pronged assault on the African continent.
